Public School "Manuel Siurot" (1962-1978)
Nowadays the High School “Torre del Rey” began as a free adapted school called "Manuel Siurot" and it was founded in the academic year 1962/63 and lessons took place in a bodega (celler where people made wine).
In the academic year 1978/79 it was transformed into an “official centre” and it depended on the High School “Tartessos” from Camas and some contribution from the Pilas Town Council.

High School "The Marshes" (1979 - 1997)
The Delegación provincial del Ministerio de Educación en Sevilla, which at that time Education in our community depended on, founded the “Mixed High School in Pilas in the academic year 1979/80.
In the year 1983, the High School changed name to Baccalaureatte High School “the Marshes” or “Las Marismas”, according to the Official Bulletin of the Community ( BOJA). Orden de la Consejería de Educación del 21/6/1983 (BOJA nº 53, del 5/7/1983).
They had tried to expand Secondary education at the end of the 60´s by adding a Vocational Training School, which in the end could not be implemented due to the lack of students. Instead, in 1987 the current High School which then was called “Tor del Rey” was founded in order to experiment the reform of our current education system. This High school was located in the old school Pío XII in Pilas (where the Health Centre is today).
The IES “Tor del Rey” had its own identity until it was integrated with the Baccalaureate High School “The Marshes” , which at that time was the only secondary educational centre in the area, and a few years later it changed its name to the current one, High School “Torre del Rey".
Current High School "Torre del Rey" (1997 - present time)
The I.E.S. "Torre del Rey" was created in accordance with the order of 3rd February 1997 in the Official Bulletin of the Community (BOJA de 22/2/1997).
Apart from Secondary Education and Baccalaureate, the High School has also taught several Vocational Training Programmes:
- From 1996/97 until 2001/02 an intermediate Vocational Training course in the electricity field called “Electrotecnical Installations and Equipment”.
- From 2002/03 until 2004/5 the High School offered a Training Course called “Furniture manufacturing”.
- From 2008/09 to the present time, an intermediate Vocational training programme has been in place which is called, “Microcomputer Systems and Web Development”.
- From 2010/11 a Programme called Initial Professional Qualification “Computer Assistant” is being offered, which from the academic year 2014/15 became known as Basic Professional Training depending on the area Computing and Communications.
